Frequently asked questions
How do I play?
Each case is a real match with the teams and score redacted. Read the clues, then make three calls — the result (home win, draw or away win), a team that played, and the total goals. Answer all three, lock it in, and the file is declassified so you can see how it really went. You score points for each call you get right.
What's the bravery bonus?
The first clues are free. Deeper clues cost you bonus to reveal. Every paid clue you leave shut multiplies your score — up to ×1.5 — so the braver your read, the bigger the payout. Crack a case cold and you bank the maximum.
What's the difference between Daily Case and Cold Case?
Daily Case gives every player the exact same mystery match each day, so scores are comparable — one attempt, and a day streak for playing day after day. Cold Case pulls a random match from the archive and is unlimited, for practice and one more go.
What are challenge packs?
Themed runs of cases — World Cup Finals, Champions League Classics, Great Comebacks and more. Close every file in a pack to complete it and earn the Pack Master badge.
Are the matches real?
Yes. Every case is a real historical match, and the facts — score, scorers, how it was decided — are based on publicly available results. The only thing the AI writes is the cosmetic hint and the after-the-fact report.
Does the AI decide anything?
No. The result of a case is the real result of a real match. The AI pundit only adds a "Scout's Read" hint and a short report on how it went — pure colour, and it never changes a score or a verdict.
The pundit said something odd.
The hints and reports are AI-generated, so an occasional strange line can slip through. It's purely cosmetic and can't affect scores. If something looks wrong, email us a screenshot and we'll improve it. You can also clear the AI cache in Settings to fetch fresh text.
Do I need an internet connection?
The game itself — clues, your three calls, the reveal and scoring — works fully offline. Only the live AI hint and report need a connection; without one, the app falls back to built-in lines, so a case is never blocked.
How do I reset my progress?
Settings → clear your statistics removes your scores, streaks and history. Deleting the app also removes all local data.
Is this an official FIFA or World Cup app?
No. Guess the Match is an independent game and is not affiliated with FIFA, UEFA or any official organisation, league or competition. Team names are used for identification only, and there's no real-money betting of any kind.
